On Friday, I was lucky enough to go with Eric to the Royal Children’s Hospital to watch a screening of a short film that he made. There were 30 short films created by the children who attend the hospital. It was a wonderful event to be a part of. Some photos of the day are below.
On Tuesday, we had a Healthy Eating incursion at school. The children watched a demonstration and then made their own rice paper wraps filled with chicken, vegetables and noodles. See below for some photos. There are more photos in the side link.
A snapshot by Jude: “Crunch”, I took my first bite into the salad, covered with some sort of special paper. As the salty soy sauce hit my tongue, I was speechless. It felt like a party inside my mouth with smooth noodles and a bit of salad to go with it. I thought to myself, ‘I wonder where this came from?’. It tasted too good.
Here is Jude’s reflection: I really enjoyed how the table was setup and Kevin and Eleanor were caring, funny and organised. I would have enjoyed it a bit more if they had more than one meal. What I learnt was how to make a meal using only a bit of ingredients. I also learnt that you don’t always have to have the same food everyday to be healthy because people are healthy in different ways. I think it suited our Inquiry topic because it was about alternative foods that are healthy choices.
To all the parents that helped out at the School Fete, I just wanted to say a BIG THANKYOU. Thanks to all your efforts, our class WON the competition for most parent helpers and so….we have won a FREE PIZZA LUNCH for all the children in our class. A note will go home to inform parents of the date.

Week 6 will be a busy week. We have BUBBLLEMUFFIN coming to visit us on Tuesday to teach us about healthy eating, we will be working on our inquiry projects, we will be using The Thinkers Keys in Literacy and we will be finishing our geometry unit.
FETE! The fete was AMAZING!!! I saw so many children and parents there. Thank you to all the children who made things for our stall and to all the parents (and children) who worked at the fete. I bought so many things and had a great time. Hopefully I can get some photos of the day.
Week 4&5 are a blur! They went so fast. We started our inquiry projects, we learnt about angles and tesselations, we wrote stories and started looking at information reports.
This week the Year 3 and 4 students had an excursion to Edendale Farm in Eltham. It was a great day, but I will let the students do the talking with their fantastic writing pieces.
Week 2 is going to be a busy one. We find out our Australian Math Competition results at assembly, Year 4s will have a FIRE carrier chat with Mrs Dragonetti and we will be getting ready for our Excursion in Week 3.
Our excursion is to Edendale Farm in Eltham! We will be participating in a number of workshops all to do with our Inquiry unit. We are looking for two parents who can volunteer their time and come with our class on Monday. Parents must have a ‘working with children’ check.
Week 1 is already over with, and it flew by. We started our new Inquiry topic of Healthy Eating and our new maths topic of Volume and Capacity. The children have been exploring what it means when we say Healthy Eating and a Balanced Diet. As the weeks roll on we will be looking into Nutrition and Exercise.
Story writing has been flourishing and our Writer’s Gifts are looking fantastic. What a great present it will make.
Hello everyone. How are your holidays? I’m having lots of fun and enjoying my time soaking up the sun. I can’t wait to see you all after the break and hear your stories.
Here are some pictures of me at the Royal Melbourne Show.
